Overview
The RTR 310 is the motorcycle that made an Indian manufacturer’s electronics package respectable. Three ride modes mapped through ride-by-wire, traction control that can be switched off, and a quickshifter in a price band where imports used to be the only place to find one — the substance here is software as much as hardware, and it is the reason TVS can quote a figure this close to the larger-displacement opposition.
The 312cc single rewards riding rather than cruising. Power arrives from 7,000 rpm upwards and the bike is at its best between 8,000 and the limiter, where it will out-accelerate anything else on this list under 400cc. The chassis is the quiet triumph: stiff, well-damped and honest about grip, with a front end that can be loaded hard into a corner without the rider negotiating with it.
The costs are the ones a single-cylinder supersport imposes. There is no torque below 4,000 rpm, so town riding means working the gearbox constantly; the seat is firm and the pegs are high, which tells against a tour for two; and claimed 28 kmpl assumes an owner who never uses the top half of the tacho, which the machine gives every reason not to.
- 36 bhp — the highest output listed here
- Rain, Street and Sport modes through ride-by-wire
- Quickshifter and bidirectional wheelie control

Pros and cons
What we like
- The most powerful motorcycle listed here, and the best electronics package
- Chassis stiffness and front-end feel are beyond the price
- Quickshifter fitted within the range rather than only on a flagship
What we would change
- No usable torque below 4,000 rpm in city traffic
- Firm seat and high pegs rule out comfortable two-up touring
- Service reach is narrower than the Japanese majors

Latest news on Apache RTR 310
Frequently asked questions
What is the TVS Apache RTR 310 price?
Between ₹2.72 lakh and ₹2.92 lakh ex-showroom Delhi NCR once the connectivity and track packages are specified, which places it directly against the 350cc retro tourers.
What mileage does the RTR 310 give?
TVS claims 28 kmpl. Riders who keep the throttle restrained report 32-35 kmpl on a highway; used hard the figure drops close to 22 kmpl.
How fast is the Apache RTR 310?
168 km/h is the quoted top speed and GPS verification lands near 160 km/h. First 60 km/h arrives in around 3.2 seconds, which is the number that matters in this segment.
Is the RTR 310 a good daily commute motorcycle?
It is capable but not relaxed. Heat from the exhaust, a low-torque bottom end and a firm seat make daily traffic work more effort than a 160 or a 350 cruiser would demand.
