Overview

The Activa 6G is bought rather than chosen, and Honda has refined that into a genuine skill. The 109cc engine now stops at a signal and restarts on twist of the throttle without a starter motor whine, the CVT has been reworked so the initial shudder off the line is largely gone, and the whole scooter has been lightened enough that the shortfall in power against a 125 matters less than the spec sheet implies.

In traffic it is the easiest scooter to live with. The seat is low at 769 mm, the turning circle takes a kerbside U-turn without a manoeuvre, and the throttle is linear enough that a rider who has never touched a clutch can be competent within a week. Claimed 60 kmpl is optimistic, but 45-50 kmpl is ordinary, and against that number a petrol scooter remains cheaper to own than most electric alternatives at this price.

The trade is interest and space. Nothing about the 6G is exciting, the front brake is still a drum on the base scooter, and under-seat storage will take an open-face helmet and nothing larger. Owners who carry a passenger on state highways will also find the 7.8 bhp motor is at its limit above 70 km/h, where passing needs a clear view rather than a downshift.

  • 60 kmpl claimed on a 5.3-litre tank
  • Idling stop and silent ACG starting
  • Lowest running cost of any scooter here per kilometre

Frequently asked questions

What is the Honda Activa 6G price?

Honda lists the range from ₹76,000 to ₹83,000 ex-showroom Delhi NCR, with the DLX the only variant to get a front disc and LED lighting.

What mileage does the Activa 6G give in daily use?

The claim is 60 kmpl. Owners report 45-50 kmpl in city traffic and 52-55 kmpl on a steady open road, which is still the best figure of any scooter on this list.

Is the Activa 6G worth it over a 125cc scooter?

If the riding is mostly solo and inside a city, the Honda’s lower price, softer low-end and better economy win. Anyone who regularly carries a passenger on an open road should pay for the extra capacity.

What does an Activa 6G service cost?

A routine periodic service at a Honda two-wheeler workshop is among the cheapest in the segment, and Honda sells fixed-price maintenance packs that cap the first three years of cost.
